The number of classes NCsoft was able to put into Richard Garriott's Tabula Rasa is pretty significant. However, if you're looking for that one class that can deal huge amounts of damage with a wide area of effect , then the Demolitionist will probably suit you best.In the full article, we talk about the Demolitionist's armor options, character class powers, and class specific weapons. Check it out if you're interested. |

Old-school gamers will probably remember the saying "Information is
Ammunition" from the old Battletech cartoon series. The saying is
applicable in most MMORPGs today, including Richard Garriott's Tabula Rasa.
NCsoft probably believed in that statement as well since it released the
Allied Free Sentients (AFS) Field Guide in PDF form. Want more information on what's inside the guide before downloading it? Check out the full article. Download: AFS Field Guide |

With Tabula Rasa's release date getting closer, NCSoft has released a guide to Arieki, one of the worlds that players will be able to explore in the upcoming sci-fi MMORPG. The guide paints a pretty bleak picture. Arieki is a barren planet pockmarked with numerous active volcanoes and volcanic fissures. The ground's not the only thing those living on Arieki have to worry about either. Clouds of toxic gas also sweep the landscape and powerfully violent electrical storms are a constant danger. Of course, the guide also gives us a glimpse at the various creatures present on Arieki. There's the Brann, made up of criminals transported from Arieki's sister planet Erdas some years before as punishment for their deeds. There's also the ant-like Atta, Arieki's global indigenous species, who are all odds with Humans, Brann and Bane alike. Check out the full guide by clicking the Read link below. It's an interesting read, and should help future players familiarize themselves with Arieki's harsh environment. |

By now, most of you already know that NCsoft's upcoming MMORPG Tabula Rasa is designed in part by the folks responsible for Ultima Online. That includes Richard Garriott himself.
Perhaps one of Richard Garriott's biggest contributions to the Tabula Rasa game world is the iconic language of the "Benefactors", the language of the Eloh. Aside from it being a nice gimmick back in E3 when they put it on the Tabula Rasa sampler CD that they gave away (putting the CD under ultra violet light translated the symbols), it really adds depth and a sense of lost history to the world of Tabula Rasa. Details like language, correct ecology, and history really helps to add to the credibility of a game world. Of course the hasty generalization here is that the more credible a game world is, the easier it is to immerse yourself in it.
Game world and credibility aside, if you're a partial Tolkien geek or even perhaps a Trekkie in denial, and you're into learning fantasy languages and inscriptions, we found a resource that might interest you. Our Read link below should lead to a guide over at TR Stratics that should help you read the many Logos Symbols in Tabula Rasa. The guide translates Logos symbols into multiple languages including 1337 spe4k - just in case you're hardcore. Yeah, those glow-y things and those weird symbols actually mean something in this game. Cool huh?

We received a report on Tabula Rasa team updating the classes, removing extraneous details like the tools and signature abilities. Those who are familiar with the old descriptions may spot the main differences easily, but check 'em out here to see if the new changes are actually better. There are several classes in Tabula Rasa: Recruit, Soldier, Specialist, Commando, Ranger, Biotechnician, and Sapper. The following are the some descriptions and updates concerning Armor, Weapons, and Abilities of each class respectively:
The Recruit is the basic level for all new Allied Free Sentients (AFS) force members. He enters the career path of Soldier or Specialist career path as soon as he masters the required skills on combat, protocols, and basic weapon handling. The Recruit takes a Light Body Armor, Firearms (Pistol, Shotgun, Rifle), and can do Hand-to-hand or Lightning Combat. More on Class update after the jump! |

Tabula Rasa has one big thing going for it, and that "one big thing"goes by the name Richard Garriott... yep, the same Richard Garriott responsible for the phenomenon known as Ultima. So before all the haters scream that it's just something uncreative made to drain money from those with fond memories of UO, read on and see what we have here. Here are a few gameplay details (and clips) that the nice folks from Gamespot were able to gather from E3. This game by Destination Games is nice a blend of shooter action and role-playing. You can switch from third to first-person views, and for those who aren't really that adept at "twitch" gaming (or just don't have to proper reflexes), the game has an auto-aim feature. The game also factors in role-playing (we assume that they mean increasing levels) calculations in combat. If you put the cross-hair over a target and fire, you'll pretty much get a guaranteed hit, but the game will calculate the damage you do. Here's a clip we found floating around YouTube. Read the full article to get more info on gameplay, some more clips, and a few vids for you guys to download. Download [Gamespot Tabula Rasa Interview] Pre-Order: [Tabula Rasa] |
