Richard Garriott answered quite a lot of questions at Independent Game Conference 2007 in Austin, Texas, and his opinion on NCsoft's MMORPG Richard Garriott's Tabula Rasa's marketing came up. NCSoft has announced that closed beta testing is starting for the Richard Garriott-developed MMORPG Tabula Rasa. The said MMO reaching the closed beta phase is one of the final steps it has to go through before it's officially released in Europe and the US.

Tabula Rasa executive producer Richard Garriott spoke about the game, the developers, and the closed beta implementation:

This is an exciting time for the Tabula Rasa team. With closed beta testing now in progress, we’re excited to hear more what our players think. With fast-action and tactical combat in an RPG setting, a deep and interesting fictional universe, and many feature innovations, we think we’ve created a game that represents the next generation of MMO games and will revolutionize the way people play online games.

Applicants of the Beta test phase for NCSoft's next MMORPG have received an e-mail message through the newsletter subscription channel straight from Richard Garriott himself, stating that the game will be entering a Closed Beta (selective beta-testing) period "within the next several weeks."

Since Tabula Rasa remained in the "Family & Friends" beta-testing phase for the past months, "Lord British" Garriott said, "I am extremely excited about the progress that has occurred over the recent months and I can’t wait for you to get in and test it out yourselves!"

Garriott also outlined how the Closed Beta testing mechanics should work out: "Once Closed Beta has begun, alerts will go out to small groups of players from this list. This will occur in waves, so I ask that you please be patient." So prepare yourself for the fight against The Bane and prime your Logos familiarity to be qualified for such an opportunity.

New year, fresh start. NCSoft couldn't have picked a better time. The moment of truth has finally arrived: beta sign-ups for Tabula Rasa are now open. Aside from the 10 winners of the closed beta keys, the dev team is going to give a couple of lucky gamers the chance to join the Allied Free Sentinels for the early rounds of beta testing.

To earn your access to a closed beta slot, you'd have to be over 18 years of age and accept Non-Disclosure agreements.

They'll be validating sign-ups based on your system specs, game experience, location, and date of registry. Make sure you fit into their qualifications.

You do have to note that your application would take some time to be promised and that slots would be limited.
