Tabula Rasa Quality Assurance team reminders for bug reporting - Image 1Most often than not, MMORPG titles carry unexpected bugs that are only determined by players in the live servers. This is not to say that the game didn't undergo testing and the same goes for NCsoft's Richard Garriott's Tabula Rasa.

Since the game was released, the developers have implemented several fixes and patches. To further help them out, the Tabula Rasa Quality Assurance team provided tips when reporting bugs to them. See the tips after the jump!

Sarah Morrison of Richard Garriott's Tabula Rasa - Image 1 Richard Garriott's Tabula Rasa has always strived to take the MMORPG genre to greater levels, and (another) one of its features that will separate it from the niche is that the game's postergirl, Sarah Morrison, will be played by an actual person instead of being an NPC that spouts out scripted remarks when you talk to her.

In a recent interview with IGN, the three women who will play Sarah Morrison (yes, three of them, and girl gamers too) explained their roles as the women behind the character.

Tabula Rasa - Image 1

When playing an MMORPG, one of the greatest goals a player has is to get up to the upper levels. Having a high level always has its appeals: better loot, better equipment, more perks and more secrets unlocked. Richard Garriott's Tabula Rasa is no exception of course. So what's in store for the upper levels?

Tabula Rasa lead developer Paul Sage enumerates the various perks more experienced players (literally) will have:
  • On level 40, players will get the option to train for certification in the Personal Armor Units. PAUs will have bonuses in movement, firepower and other different abilities for their class.
  • On hitting level 50 players will acquire the rank of AFS commander and will be able to command their own personal subordinates. Basically you get your own squad you get to bully. "Flashpoints" will need squads to be conquered.
  • A player with a high level can also get to lead their own clan. In turn leaders will get to choose the passive buffs their clan can have

Language, Benefactor Project in Tabula Rasa - Image 1

Those of you who are still trying to wrap their brains around Tabula Rasa's Benefactor Project, you'll be happy to know that NCSoft has released a new logo to help ease your befuddled brains.

For those who are unfamiliar with the Benefactor Project, it is the effort of many who are trying to decipher the code written on the Benefactor Stone, an integral piece of Tabula Rasa's story. The stone was found in the mountains of Peru, and when it was found that it may be of alien origin, the markings on the stone was reproduced for worldwide distribution in hopes that someone will be able to translate it. Could it be you?

The winner of the Benefactor Project will get to have an NPC from the human forces in the Tabula Rasa game named after him. Check out our Tabula Rasa Archives for more logos that have been deciphered in the past. Here is the latest logo, representing "language:"

Okay, remember that we reported to you folks about a week ago about this project to decode the language of the Eloh? Well, that, namby-pamby, artsy-fartsy, only-for "ghey RPers" info might come in handy right now. The folks from NCSoft have a fancy, and flavorful new Tabula Rasa contest for you folks. All you have to do is decode the message in the image below.

TR Logos - Image 1

The prize you ask? Well, here's what the Official Rules and Regulations for the contest says:

An in-game Non-Player character will be named after the winner (retail value: $ 0.00 each). The NPC name will be the last name of the winner plus a rank designation. For example, if the winner’s real name was Bob Smith then the NPC named after him would be Commander Smith or Sgt. Smith. The Sponsor will pick the rank designation.

Well, it isn't really free play time, or a slot in some Beta Test, but still, it still counts as pretty decent bragging rights. Well? Start decoding folks! Our read link below should lead to a helpful listing of known Logos symbols.

This week's featured screenshot on NCSoft's official Tabula Rasa site offers a preview of how the battlefield will look like in the game. It also gives a few more hints as to how gameplay will work.

Screen of the Week - Image 1

The shot shows of a recruit standing in a human base (which also happens to be an armor depot). The recruit is standing next to three things you'll probably get sick of when you start playing the game.

First off, the big glowy blue structure that's directly in front of the Recruit is a control point. Since it's blue that means your faction controls it, and you're basically in friendly territory. Enemy control points glow red.

Next, small looking fellow in the far left is the informational NPC. If you can't seem to remember stuff, you can always talk to the guy and he'll be eager to help. The guy on the far right is the mission giving NPC. No doubt you'll be talking to him a lot as you progress your character.

Finally, the random body parts the litter the complex are Bane body-parts. They're there to remind you that just because you're in a friendly armory doesn't mean you don't get to fend off sieges from time to time.

'Twas just a few days ago when we introduced the brilliant, hardworking people that compose the Tabula Rasa team. And while we've been talking here about the weapons, the classes and other stuff involving the game, we really haven't heard the official group speak. That's why the recent interview with the TR team is very welcome and most refreshing, to say the least.

TRThe term Tabula Rasa which refers to the concept of how humans start by having no mental content is quite literally used within the game. Players have blank slates that they use to record found logos knowledge. "The idea is further explored in the game via ethical parables and choices players make that determine who the players turn out to be since every player begins basically the same," the team shares.

The blank slate concept is the team's main reason for sticking with just one race- the humans. Gamers' decisions while playing will then determine the outcome of their characters, which the group refers to as an inverse tree leveling system. They added then that "the other reason is that the story is ultimately about saving humanity.

Tabula Rasa
has a range of weapons, tools and abilities including those based on the power of Logos. The game’s story goes into this power and its origins. Every player-character has the ability to acquire logos abilities regardless of class."

TRAnother key feature of the game is the NPC characters. Aside from them being more free-thinking, the game also allows players to team up with NPCs. Mission objectives can also be received through travels via NPCs. Speaking of travel, Tabula Rasa offers wormhole teleportation of varying magnitudes from local transport to planetary transport.

And should you be wondering how massive Tabula Rasa could be, the TR team replies, "TR has large battlefields where players and NPCs struggle to take area control points. These control points give players the opportunity to change the tide of battle and unlock content. Expect epic battles!"

Finally, while the TR team admits that there is still no exact amount for the monthly subscription fee, they promised that they would be constantly releasing content.
